New Tax System Comes into Effect from January 1, 2026

The new tax system for businesses and individuals in Cyprus will come into effect on January 1, 2026. The reform, which was approved by Parliament, includes changes such as increasing the corporate tax rate from 12.5% to 15%, reducing the dividend withholding tax to 5%, abolishing the deemed distribution of dividends and stamp duties. Additionally, new provisions are introduced regarding the responsibility of directors, land grants, and the special defense contribution. The tax brackets for individuals are also being amended, and deductions are provided for children, home insurance, and housing loans. The OEB will monitor the implementation of the reform and keep its members informed.
