New cases of foot-and-mouth disease have been detected in eleven livestock units in Livadia and Oroklini, bringing the total number of infected units to 22. The number of infected animals is estimated to reach 16,000. Culling of animals in the affected units has already begun, as well as the distribution of 529,000 doses of vaccine that arrived from France. Veterinary Services emphasize the importance of livestock farmers adhering to biosecurity measures to limit the spread of the disease. The government has mobilized over 500 people to control and address the crisis.
