New Larnaca City Hall Project Delayed – Another Extension Requested

The creation of the new Larnaca City Hall, through the conversion of the old hospital, has become a complex and delayed process. Despite the relocation of Health Services to the new hospital, the state's Public Health Services remain on site, resulting in a new extension request for their relocation, placing it within March. This delay jeopardizes the start of the project, which was originally scheduled for 2023. The Mayor of Larnaca expresses strong dissatisfaction with the continuous postponements, while the construction tender has already been awarded. However, the delays have skyrocketed the project's cost, exceeding €9 million, causing concerns within the Municipal Council regarding its viability. The project includes work to highlight the preserved buildings, demolition of newer additions, and the creation of new infrastructure, as well as the landscaping of the outdoor area with a garden and square.
