New Aradippou Water Reservoir Project Advances

The construction of the new water reservoir in the Municipality of Aradippou is progressing following the issuance of a positive opinion from the Environmental Authority. The reservoir, with a capacity of 16,000 cubic meters, will be built in the area of Rizoelia, selected due to its altitude which ensures adequate water pressure. The purpose of the project, worth 4.5 million euros, is to ensure autonomy in water supply for at least 48 hours in case of interruption of supply from the Water Development Department. The decision to build the reservoir was based on studies that predict the coverage of water needs for the next 30 years, taking into account the population increase and economic development of the area. At the same time, the installation of a new 3.2 kilometer long pipeline is planned to connect the reservoir to the water supply network. The Larnaca Provincial Self-Government Organization (EOA) considers the new water reservoir as a key part of its plan to address the water problem in the area. The location of the reservoir was determined after a study of the area's topography, which showed that Rizoelia is the most ideal location. The project is expected to significantly contribute to strengthening the security of supply during emergencies and ensuring the continuous water supply to the residents of Aradippou. The completion of the project is expected to significantly improve the quality of life in the area and support its further development.
