Netanyahu: Occupation of Lebanese Territory as a “Neutral Zone” …for Israel’s Security

Israel has announced that it is expanding the “neutral zone” in Lebanon, with the aim of strengthening security on its northern border and countering the threat of rockets from Hezbollah. Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that the security zone prevents infiltration into Galilee and removes the threat of anti-tank missiles, reiterating that the dismantling of Hezbollah remains a central goal. According to the Defense Minister, Israel intends to occupy southern Lebanon up to the Litani River, an area corresponding to almost 10% of the country. The escalation of operations comes amid the Middle East war, which has resulted in over 1,000 deaths and more than one million displaced people.
