National Cancer Institute Bill to be Voted on Before Parliament's Adjournment

The Parliamentary Committee on Health has committed to voting on the bill for the National Cancer Institute before the Parliament's adjournment. Committee President, Efthymios Diplaros, announced an emergency session on Monday to complete the discussion of the bill, which has been a long-standing request from organizations, medical centers, and the public. Mr. Diplaros emphasized that the bill will create a supervisory body to coordinate the efforts of various organizations involved in oncology. The goal is to approve the bill before April 2nd, during the last plenary session of the Parliament. DHKO MP Andreas Apostolou expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the bill, which he had prioritized since his election. He highlighted the struggle of the Federation of Cancer Patient Associations of Cyprus to achieve this goal. The National Cancer Institute will be primarily responsible for reviewing and implementing the national cancer strategy, covering issues of prevention, research, care, palliative care, and treatments. It will serve as a coordinating body for all cancer services and providers in Cyprus.
