More Meat in 2025: Pig Production to Increase by up to 9.6%

Meat production in Cyprus is expected to increase in 2025 compared to 2024, according to data released by the Statistical Service. The largest increases will be in the production of pork, sheep and poultry, with rates of 9.6%, 3.1% and 3% respectively. Conversely, beef and goat production will decrease by 4.9% and 1.8%. A particularly significant increase in meat production was recorded in December 2025 compared to December 2024. Pork production increased by 17.9%, while increases were also recorded in goats (13.5%), sheep (14.1%), poultry (12.7%) and beef (4%). The data indicate strong demand for meat, with production increasing in most species during the year. The increase in pork production is particularly noteworthy, both on an annual and monthly basis. The overall trend shows a positive development for the meat production sector in Cyprus, reflecting the satisfaction of demand and the adaptation of producers to market needs. The increase in production of specific types of meat may be due to various factors, such as increased consumption, favorable breeding conditions and government support policies.
