Miraculous Escape for Six Workers in Construction Site Accident

A serious accident occurred at a construction site in Limassol, where six workers narrowly escaped death. The floor slab they were working on collapsed during concrete pouring. The incident occurred in a building under construction on Spyros Kyprianou Avenue, near the Agia Fyla traffic lights. Concrete pouring work had begun early in the morning, and under circumstances being investigated, the supporting formwork failed to withstand the weight, resulting in the collapse of dozens of tons of concrete. Despite the collapse, the six workers managed to be saved without injuries. However, the material damage to the building is significant, estimated at tens of thousands of euros. Inspectors from the Department of Labour Inspection, the Police, and the responsible contractor rushed to the scene to investigate the cause of the accident and determine whether safety measures were followed. The investigation will focus on the strength of the supports and formwork used.
