Manageable Situation in Hospitals, Measures for Seasonal Infections

Published February 11, 2026, 12:36

The Minister of Health, Neofytos Charalambides, stated that the situation in hospitals is manageable after increased hospitalizations due to seasonal infections, adding that no additional measures are needed at this time. The assurance was given after a visit to the General Hospital of Nicosia. The number of infections remains at the same levels as last year, possibly even slightly lower, and OKYPY is managing the situation effectively. At the same time, cases of influenza, RSV, and COVID are declining. The Ministry of Health is closely monitoring the spread of RSV and issuing guidelines, while there has been a significant response from the public to vaccination. A possible new outbreak is expected around the beginning of March, but it is estimated that it will be milder.
