LUCAS: The new low-cost drone of the USA being used in the war with Iran

The US has developed a new kamikaze drone, LUCAS (Low-Cost Uncrewed Combat Attack System), which costs around 30,000 euros and is already being used in operations against Iran. The drone was rapidly developed by SpektreWorks of Arizona and is based on the Iranian Shahed, widely used by Russia in Ukraine. The development of LUCAS is a response to the growing importance of drones in modern warfare, especially after the use of Iranian Shahed drones by Russia in Ukraine. LUCAS is cheaper and is developed faster than traditional US weapons systems. Notably, the drone was used for the first time in an operation from a ship, demonstrating a new advance in naval operations. The rapid development of LUCAS reflects the lessons learned from monitoring the use of drones in Ukraine. Speed of development is a significant advantage, as traditional US weapons systems take years to develop and deploy.
