Livestock Farmers to Protest at Presidential Palace over Foot-and-Mouth Disease Developments

Livestock farmers have announced a protest march to the Presidential Palace on Saturday, March 21, following developments regarding foot-and-mouth disease. The march will start from GSP at 10 am and end at the Presidential Palace at 11 am. The livestock farmers demand the immediate cessation of the horizontal slaughter of healthy animals, the conduct of sampling 28 days after the second vaccination, the immediate announcement of the amount of compensation and the examination of samples by private chemists. They point out that vaccinations are taking place in the occupied territories and exports are continuing as normal. Biosafety measures will be observed during the protest. The Movement of United Cypriot Hunters – Active Citizens call for participation in the protest, expressing their solidarity with the livestock farmers.
