Σε εξέλιξη βρίσκεται κινητοποίηση κτηνοτρόφων, οι οποίοι εκφράζουν τη διαμαρτυρία τους για τις θανατώσεις ασυμπτωματικών ζώων και τις επιπτώσεις του αφθώδους πυρετού.
Οι κτηνοτρόφοι συγκεντρώθηκαν στις 10:00 στον χώρο στάθμευσης του ΓΣΠ, ενώ η πορεία έχει ξεκινήσει στις 11:00 και καταλήγοντας στο Προεδρικό Μέγαρο.
Κεντρικό σημείο των αντιδράσεών τους αποτελούν οι θανατώσεις υγιών και ασυμπτωματικών ζώων, τις οποίες χαρακτηρίζουν ως οριζόντια μέτρα που πλήττουν σοβαρά τον κλάδο. Παράλληλα, εκφράζουν έντονες ενστάσεις για τις δειγματοληψίες που, όπως υποστηρίζουν, διενεργούν λειτουργοί των Κτηνιατρικών Υπηρεσιών σε εμβολιασμένα ζώα.
Μεταξύ των αιτημάτων τους περιλαμβάνονται:
- ο άμεσος τερματισμός των θανατώσεων
- η παύση των δειγματοληψιών, τις οποίες χαρακτηρίζουν παράνομες
- η παροχή σαφών απαντήσεων από το κράτος για το ζήτημα των αποζημιώσεων
Η κινητοποίηση τελεί υπό την παρακολούθηση της Αστυνομία Κύπρου, με μέτρα να λαμβάνονται για τη ρύθμιση της κυκλοφορίας στην ευρύτερη περιοχή.
Livestock Farmers Protest Animal Culls – March to Presidential Palace
Livestock farmers in Cyprus are mobilizing, marching towards the Presidential Palace to protest the culling of asymptomatic animals and the impact of foot-and-mouth disease. The farmers consider the culling of healthy animals as indiscriminate measures that severely harm the sector and express strong objections to the sampling carried out on vaccinated animals. The mobilization began from the GSP parking area and headed towards the Presidential Palace. The farmers demand the immediate cessation of culls, the suspension of sampling which they deem illegal, and clear answers from the state regarding compensation. The protest is being monitored by the Cyprus Police, which has taken measures to regulate traffic in the area. The farmers aim to draw the government's attention to the problems facing the sector and to find a sustainable solution to address foot-and-mouth disease. This mobilization is an indication of the tension between farmers and authorities, as well as the need for dialogue and finding mutually acceptable solutions.
