Larnaca Water Board to Reduce Water Pressure from February 24th

The Larnaca Provincial Self-Governing Authority (LPOA) announced that it will reduce water pressure in its networks from February 24th, 2026, as part of a series of measures to conserve water. This decision is being made due to the particularly difficult water situation facing Cyprus and the 10% reduction in water supply to the LPOAs by the Water Development Department. The LPOA reminds consumers of their obligation to have a water tank with a capacity of at least 800 liters per property to avoid the risk of insufficient water supply, especially in high-rise buildings. In apartment buildings, a tank is required in the ground floor or basement with a pumping system to promote water to the independent tanks of the apartments, which must also have a capacity of at least 800 liters. Consumers are asked to install or check the operation of these systems by February 24th, 2026. The LPOA emphasizes the importance of public cooperation in the effort to save water, warning of possible future cuts. This move is part of a broader effort to address water scarcity in Cyprus, which is worsening due to climate change and increased demand.
