Larnaca Shaken by Violent Clashes: Organized Crime Suspected

Violent clashes involving shootings and the use of axes, wood, and crowbars shook Larnaca yesterday afternoon, causing terror among citizens. The incident took place on a central street of the city, near the Police Directorate, and is attributed to a dispute between organized criminal groups. One man was taken to hospital with head injuries. Police arrested four suspects, including a 48-year-old and three foreign nationals of Arab origin, against whom arrest warrants were issued for a series of serious offenses, such as conspiracy, illegal possession of weapons and explosives, extortion, assault causing bodily harm, and carrying weapons to incite terror. The area was cordoned off for several hours, while police collected numerous pieces of evidence, including bullets and a car. The incident sparked outrage in the local community, which denounces the increase in crime and the feeling of insecurity. According to information, more than ten people were involved in the clash, and a person previously involved with the police in serious cases was also involved.
