Larnaca: Organized Crime in the Spotlight - 10 Arrested, Investigations Continue

The Larnaca Police have made extensive arrests in connection with the clash and shooting that took place near the Larnaca Police Headquarters last Saturday. A total of eleven people were arrested, and a raid was also carried out at the Central Prisons, resulting in the arrest of a defendant. Ten of the arrested remain in custody and are expected to appear in court. The charges they face include interference in a judicial process, participation in a criminal organization, illegal possession of weapons and explosives, extortion, and other related offenses. Among the arrested are 8 Greek Cypriots and 2 foreigners. Investigations are ongoing, and further arrests are not ruled out. The clash involves the commission of 13 offenses, including serious crimes such as attempted murder. The Police aim to crack down on organized crime in the area. It is noted that the case began with a clash in the center of Larnaca, which escalated with shootings and the use of weapons.
