Large Crowd Attends Military Parade in Athens for Greek Independence Day

A large military parade took place today in central Athens to commemorate Greek Independence Day, March 25th. A large crowd gathered to watch the parade, which featured modern weaponry. The event began early in the morning with a 21-gun salute and a performance by military and police bands. This was followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by the President of the Republic, Kosta Tasoulas, and a doxology at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, presided over by Archbishop Ieronymos II. The day concluded with another 21-gun salute.
