Kostas Paraskevas: No Realistic Prospect for Restarting Negotiations

Professor of Public Law Kostas Paraskevas expresses skepticism about the resumption of negotiations on the Cyprus issue. He believes there is no realistic prospect for a restart, as the Greek Cypriot side is limited to rhetorical statements without substantial initiatives. He points out that the stagnation is detrimental to the Greek Cypriot side, reinforcing factors that distance the solution. He emphasizes the need for concrete de-escalation of tensions and the recognition of the cost of non-solution by Cypriot society. He also comments on the moves of Tufan Erhurm and the importance of Confidence-Building Measures, but stresses that negotiations will not restart simply because we desire it.
