Khamenei Calls on Intelligence Services to Target ‘Enemies at Home and Abroad’

The new supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, has called on the country's intelligence services to target “enemies at home and abroad” in a message posted on X (formerly Twitter). The statement comes after the death of the minister in charge of intelligence services, Esmail Khatib, in an Israeli airstrike. Mojtaba Khamenei, who succeeded his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has not appeared publicly since his appointment, which has led to speculation about his health. According to US sources, he himself was injured in the attack. This move signals an escalation of tensions in the region.
