Kerynia Municipality: Conversion of Pantopoleio Continues Encroachment on Greek Cypriot Properties

The Kerynia Municipality condemns the conversion of the historic Pantopoleio of Kerynia into a “gastronomy hub” by the pseudo-state, characterizing it as a continuation of the encroachment on Greek Cypriot properties. The Pantopoleio, built in 1878 and functioning as a town hall and market, is being transformed into a space to showcase Turkish Cypriot culture, which the Municipality considers a violation of property rights and a distortion of the monument's historical identity. This action, according to the Municipality, constitutes an attack on cultural heritage and an attempt to disconnect the space from the memory and continuity of the place. The Kerynia Municipality emphasizes that the protection of cultural identity cannot be an object of exploitation.
