IRAN'S NEIGHBORS FEAR US STRIKES COULD SPARK REGIONAL CONFLICT

Iran's neighboring countries are expressing strong fears that potential US strikes against Iran could destabilize the entire region. The main concern is Iranian retaliation, which could directly impact Gulf countries despite the US protection they receive. Countries like Saudi Arabia and Oman had already requested the Trump administration to halt potential strikes. Despite being weakened, Iran possesses a significant arsenal of ballistic missiles capable of hitting critical infrastructure in neighboring countries, such as desalination plants, hydrocarbon facilities, and power stations. The destruction of this infrastructure could render the hot and arid Gulf countries uninhabitable. Furthermore, there is concern about a potential oil crisis, as Iran could attempt to block oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz. This would have severe economic consequences for the Gulf countries, which are already facing significant economic challenges due to efforts to change their economic model. A war with Iran could also reactivate other conflicts in the region, through Iran's allies such as the Houthis in Yemen and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Additionally, it could give freedom of action to hostile groups within neighboring countries, such as Turkey and Pakistan, which fear the strengthening of Kurdish organizations in the event of Iran's destabilization.
