Iran: If Attacked on Our Shores, We Will Completely Mine the Gulf

Iran threatens to completely mine the Gulf in the event of an attack on its shores or islands. This threat came in response to reports that the United States is considering plans to seize or block the Iranian island of Khark, in order to pressure Tehran to open the Strait of Hormuz. According to Iran's Defense Council, the mining will include various types of mines, including floating mines and those that can be deployed from the shore. Iran maintains that only non-belligerent states can pass through the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with it. This threat comes at a time of increased tension between Iran and the United States, against the backdrop of disagreements over Iran's nuclear program and regional influence. Iran has repeatedly stated that it will defend its interests in the region and will react to any attack.
