Iran, Eastern Mediterranean, and the New Geopolitical Puzzle: Cyprus at a Crossroads

The Middle East is entering a period of geopolitical realignment, with the situation in Iran being particularly fragile. Mass protests represent the largest internal challenge to the regime since the Islamic Revolution. Cyprus, due to its geographical location and strategic pursuits, finds itself at the center of developments. Nicosia must consider the pressures of refugee flows, the need for security and strategic assessment, as well as the economic consequences of instability. Cyprus's assumption of the EU Presidency elevates its role and calls upon it to act as a bridge between Brussels and Tehran, promoting dialogue and de-escalation. Energy security and sustainable development are also significant challenges. Cyprus can no longer be a mere observer but must take an active role in shaping the new geopolitical puzzle.
