International Recognition for Valentina Sofocleous

Actress and artistic director of Roes Theatre, Valentina Sofocleous, will receive an international award for intercultural action in Istanbul on February 9th. The award is presented by the Turkish cultural magazine Tiyatro Gazetesi, recognizing her international presence in the theatre. Sofocleous referred to the work of Roes Theatre, emphasizing its dynamic presence in Cyprus and abroad, as well as its contribution to promoting Cypriot culture internationally. She also announced the creation of the World Theatre Organization (ETA) and new international initiatives of the theatre, such as its participation in festivals in Portugal and Athens. During the event, Sofocleous criticized the policies of the Deputy Ministry of Culture regarding the “Thymeli” grant scheme, expressing concern about the evaluation process. Larnaca Deputy Mayor Iason Iasonides congratulated Valentina Sofocleous and Roes Theatre for their contribution to the cultural life of the city and to Larnaca's effort to become the European Capital of Culture 2030.
