International Coalition to Secure Strait of Hormuz Under Discussion

The UK and France will co-chair a meeting of approximately 30 countries this week, aiming to establish an international coalition to guarantee the security of the Strait of Hormuz. The meeting will be held at the level of defense officials, led by British Chief of the Defence Staff Richard Naughton and his French counterpart Fabien Mandon. London has offered to host an international conference in Portsmouth or London to formally establish the coalition. This initiative comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with concerns about potential attacks on ships and disruption to shipping. The goal is to ensure the free passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime route for global trade. The British Ministry of Defence has not yet confirmed all the information.
