International Arrest Warrant Issued for Annie Alexui

The Cyprus Police have issued an international arrest warrant for Ioanna Fotiou, known as Annie Alexui, who claims to have received political asylum in Russia. Fotiou faces 13 arrest warrants for offenses related to the dissemination of false news and harassment, stemming from videos she posts on social media. In these videos, Fotiou makes “revelations” about organized crime, alleged actions of prominent Cypriots, including political figures and officials, and their connections to the underworld. She has targeted mayors, MPs, police officers, judicial officials, and others, with some of them filing complaints with the Police. The Police believe that Fotiou's posts discredit the institutions of the state and are asking her to surrender and submit the evidence she claims to possess. The execution of the warrant in Russia is uncertain due to European sanctions, while questions arise as to why and how Russia granted political asylum to Fotiou. The issuance of the warrant raises questions due to the time delay, as the offenses allegedly occurred between January and October 2025, while the warrant was issued now. Furthermore, this move is linked to Fotiou's recent posts against the President of the Republic and his wife, regarding publications and videos circulating online.
