Interior Minister Defends Government Against Corruption Allegations, Calls Video 'Malicious Fabrication'

Following strong reactions to a video alleging corruption and illegal funding within the Presidential Palace, Interior Minister Konstantinos Ioannou has launched a full defense of the government. Mr. Ioannou avoided directly addressing the video's content, dismissing it as a 'malicious product of editing' aimed at undermining the image of Cyprus and its government, as well as hindering investment attraction. He argued that the video was created by unknown individuals with the intent to create impressions and damage trust in the government, particularly during Cyprus's presidency of the EU Council. The Minister emphasized that the President of the Republic is not accountable for the actions of private individuals or for relationships that may have been exploited for personal gain without his knowledge.
