Insufficient Evidence in Case of Paphos Mayor's Wife Assault, Says Legal Service

The Legal Service of Cyprus has determined that the evidence gathered in the case of the alleged assault of the wife of the suspended Mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phaedonos, is insufficient to proceed with the case in court. The Police have been instructed to receive and evaluate any additional material that may emerge from media reports. Simultaneously, the case regarding the alleged rape is expected to be filed with the Limassol District Court in the coming days. The Police declined to comment on the charges faced by Mr. Phaedonos, as he has not yet been formally charged. It is important to remember that guilt or innocence is determined by the Court, and the presumption of innocence applies until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
