Increased Rainfall Expected in Eastern Mediterranean, Including Cyprus

The Department of Meteorology has announced increased rainfall in the Eastern Mediterranean, including Cyprus, which is expected to temporarily improve soil moisture and hydrological conditions. Despite this forecast, the hydrological situation remains critical due to prolonged drought, and the Department calls for the rational use of water. According to the medium-term forecast of the World Meteorological Organization, rainfall will be above normal levels for the season, with a probability of wetter conditions exceeding 90% in the first week and ranging between 70-90% in the second. Rainfall is expected to range between 25 and 75 millimeters, with the possibility of local flooding episodes. The Department of Meteorology is monitoring the situation and will provide updates. The need for water conservation remains imperative.
