Inauguration of "Cyprus at the Louvre" Archaeological Exhibition in Paris

The inauguration of the archaeological exhibition "Cyprus at the Louvre" was held successfully in Paris, with the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, the First Lady of France, Brigitte Macron, and representatives of UNESCO and the French Ministry of Culture. The exhibition, which will run until June 22, 2026, presents a selection of Cypriot antiquities transferred from the Department of Antiquities, combined with objects from the Louvre’s permanent collection. The exhibition is the result of collaboration between the Cypriot Deputy Ministry of Culture, the University of Cyprus, the CYENS Centre of Excellence and the Louvre Museum. Its aim is to showcase the ancient culture of Cyprus at European and international level, presenting the historical and cultural significance of the antiquities through recent archaeological research. The visitors’ experience is enriched with digital applications, such as 3D representations and augmented reality experiences, illuminating aspects of ancient life, art and language. In addition, the exhibition incorporates poems by great Greek poets inspired by Cyprus and traditional Cypriot songs, creating a multi-dimensional cultural experience. The exhibition is accompanied by a trilingual publication featuring scientific studies by 37 archaeologists, historians and scientists, offering a comprehensive picture of Cypriot archaeology and the Louvre’s collection. This event is a significant opportunity to promote the culture of Cyprus and strengthen international cultural relations.
