Hospitals Struggle with Flu Surge: Bed Shortages Reported

Public hospitals in Cyprus are facing severe pressure due to the outbreak of seasonal viruses, with pathology and pulmonology wards being overcrowded. Patients are being forced to be hospitalized in clinics of other specialties, while doctors in emergency departments are struggling to find beds. Limassol Hospital is the most pressured, with doctors being forced to transfer patients to other hospitals, although these are facing similar problems. PASYKI points out that lessons have not been learned from previous experiences and that the situation is burdening both patients and staff, especially due to understaffing. At the same time, it criticizes the OKYPY management for its slow response and lack of effective measures.
