High Interest in Tax Reform Information, Says Tax Commissioner

The Tax Commissioner, Sotiris Markidis, announced significant interest from organizations and citizens regarding information about the new tax reform that came into effect on January 1, 2026. Over 8,000 people have expressed interest in participating in presentations organized by the Tax Department in collaboration with various bodies such as KEVE, OEB, SELK, and trade unions. The presentations, which began on January 12, 2026, are held both in person and online, adapting to the needs of each organization. The aim is to fully inform about the changes that primarily affect individuals and the taxation of their income. The Tax Department has also posted extensive material on its website, including form T.F.59 for claiming tax deductions, an explanatory guide to the reform, frequently asked questions and answers, application examples, and an income tax calculation tool. Mr. Markidis emphasized that the material will be enriched and updated as needed, based on feedback from presentations and the public. He encouraged the public to study the material carefully and stay informed to understand the new concepts and deductions provided by the reform. The income tax calculation tool is considered particularly useful for calculating tax before and after the reform, as well as for determining the tax benefit.
