Haralambidis: Vaccination of the GeSY is a Priority to Make it Better – New Health Minister Sets Goals

The new Minister of Health, Neofytos Haralambidis, stated in his first interview that time is needed to gain a complete picture of the issues in the health sector. He emphasized that the implementation of the GeSY (General Healthcare System) is the greatest achievement of the average citizen in the field of health and pledged to ensure its smooth and correct operation, making corrections where necessary. Haralambidis acknowledges the shortage of nurses and states that he will seek commonly acceptable arrangements with stakeholders, without imposing solutions. He also expresses his determination to promote the operation of university clinics and to take advantage of the Cypriot presidency of the EU to achieve positive results. The Minister emphasizes that health services must be people-centered and that every policy decision must take this fundamental prism into account. He intends to meet with all stakeholders to be informed and consult before making any decision. Particular emphasis will be placed on upgrading infrastructure and the rational management of citizens' contributions.
