Hamas Announces Readiness to Transfer Power in Gaza, Demands Full Rafah Crossing Access

Hamas has announced its readiness for a “full transfer of governance” in the Gaza Strip, as soon as possible, according to a spokesperson for the Palestinian Islamist organization. However, they insist that the Rafah border crossing, with Egypt, must be fully opened “without Israeli obstacles.” Hazem Qassem stated that protocols have been prepared and files completed, and committees have been tasked with the operation to facilitate the handover to the National Committee established under the American plan to end the war. The transfer is contingent on the Committee members being able to access the Gaza Strip, requiring the full reopening of the Rafah crossing in both directions. This declaration signals a potential shift in the status of the Gaza Strip, but its implementation depends on resolving the Rafah crossing issue. Hamas maintains the need for full access through Rafah to facilitate the transfer of power and humanitarian aid.
