Farmers in Greece have decided to temporarily suspend agricultural blockades in anticipation of the New Year, in order to facilitate travel for holidaymakers. This decision is made while awaiting a nationwide meeting to be held on January 4th in Malgara, where the next steps of the mobilizations will be determined. Specifically, the Evzonas and Promachonas customs posts will be open to all vehicles until January 2nd and New Year's Day respectively. At the crossing station in Exochi, Drama, a renewed blockade of heavy goods vehicles is expected from 12:00 noon on January 2nd. A similar situation prevails at the Nikis customs post. Furthermore, traffic will be unimpeded at the Malgara toll booths and the Chalkidona junction at least until New Year's Day. Farmers in Halkidiki, participating in the blockade at “Prasina Fanaria,” are considering withdrawing and setting up a new blockade in another area. The nationwide meeting of farmers and livestock breeders will take place at 12:00 noon on Sunday, January 4th, at the Malgara Cultural Center, with the aim of forming a common front and deciding on the next moves to achieve their demands.
