Greek Ambassador: Greece Will Support Cyprus' Defense Alone if Necessary

The Greek Ambassador to Nicosia, Konstantinos Kollia, stated that Greece will support the defense of Cyprus, even if it has to do so alone. This statement was made during a reception hosted at the embassy residence to mark the national anniversary of March 25th. The Ambassador emphasized the steadfast solidarity between Greece and Cyprus, particularly during the recent regional crisis, and the immediate support provided to Cyprus by Greece and other European countries. He also mentioned the donation of the Greek Embassy building by the Church of Cyprus. Mr. Kollia highlighted that relations between Greece and Cyprus have been strengthened at all levels, based on their shared history, language, religion, and values. The cooperation between the two countries, as EU members, contributes to stability and security in the Eastern Mediterranean. The Ambassador's speech also referred to the importance of freedom, which is not guaranteed but the result of struggle and faith. He stressed the need for national unity and courage to build a better future for Greece, Cyprus, and Hellenism. Finally, Mr. Kollia expressed his desire for the reunification of Cyprus within the framework of UN resolutions, with a Cyprus free from occupying forces, guarantees, and intervention rights, for the benefit of all its inhabitants.
