Greece: New Weapons Presented at the March 25th Parade

The military parade for the 25th of March in Athens showcased the transition of the Armed Forces to a new era, with an emphasis on innovation and modern weapon systems. The new strategy, known as “Agenda 2030”, aims to develop a domestic defense ecosystem and strengthen the country's deterrent power. The new uniform of the “Modern Warrior” was presented at the parade, incorporating modern specifications for protection, flexibility, and firepower. In addition, modern weapon systems were showcased, such as the KENTAUROS anti-drone system, a product of collaboration between the Hellenic Center for Defense Innovation (ELKAK) and the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (EAB). In addition to the new systems, wheeled M1117 vehicles with electronic surveillance systems, as well as American-made M1117 armored reconnaissance vehicles, participated in the parade. The M1117 vehicles carry sensors designed and manufactured by the 306th Base Factory of the Army, providing real-time imagery to Operations Centers. The Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, emphasized the importance of “Agenda 2030” and the new Force Structure for building the strongest and most modern Armed Forces in the history of Greece. The presence of innovation systems in the parade highlights the strategic transition of the Greek Armed Forces to an operational model based on technological superiority and the strengthening of national deterrent power.
