The Cypriot government and the Ministry of Labour are studying the impact of the Middle East conflict on the country's tourism industry and preparing to respond, according to Labour Minister Marinos Mousiouttas following a meeting with EDEK. The meeting discussed the challenges facing the tourism sector and EDEK's proposals. Additionally, the 12% proportional reduction in pensions before the age of 65 was discussed, with a promise to reduce this percentage as part of pension reform. The Minister stated that ways to repay the state's 12 billion debt to the Social Insurance Fund are being considered, also within the framework of pension reform. The goal of the reform is to increase low pensions. EDEK expressed satisfaction with the constructive discussion and the Ministry's willingness to cooperate. Mr. Mousiouttas emphasized the importance of cooperation and friendship between the Ministry and EDEK, offering an open channel of communication to resolve issues related to the labour sector. EDEK was the first party to request a meeting with the Minister after he took office. The President of EDEK expressed his satisfaction with the discussion and the Ministry's willingness to consider the issues raised, while the Labour Minister reiterated the government's commitment to finding solutions for the benefit of citizens.
