Golden Dawn Trial: Process for Mitigating Circumstances Continues Tomorrow

The process for examining mitigating circumstances for the 42 defendants in the Golden Dawn trial will continue tomorrow at the Five-Member Criminal Court of Appeal. Mitigating circumstances have already been recognized for 13 defendants from the original decision. Defense attorneys are requesting various mitigating circumstances, such as a previous law-abiding life, good behavior after the act, and undue length of the trial. The prosecutor will submit her proposals tomorrow, while the judges will ultimately decide whether to approve the mitigating circumstances, which will affect the severity of the sentences. The original decision had recognized mitigating circumstances for four former MPs. The conviction was confirmed by the Court of Appeal, declaring Golden Dawn a criminal organization.
