Ghislaine Maxwell Remains Silent Before Congress

Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein's convicted accomplice, remained silent during her testimony before the House Oversight Committee of the US Congress. Maxwell, sentenced to 20 years in prison, invoked the Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution and refused to answer questions that could further incriminate her. Her silence was described as “disappointing” by the committee chairman. Members had questions about the crimes committed by Maxwell and Epstein, as well as about possible accomplices. Maxwell's lawyers had previously sought immunity in exchange for her testimony, a request rejected by the Committee. A letter from her attorneys stated that she could receive a pardon from Donald Trump. The Committee believes that Maxwell's silence proves that she is a “very bad person” who does not deserve any immunity.
