Germany Warns of a 'More Serious Crisis' in the Middle East

Germany and France have called for de-escalation of the war in the Middle East, with German Foreign Minister Johann Wandefuhl warning of a 'more serious crisis' if global supply chains continue to be disrupted. Mr. Wandefuhl emphasized that disruption to fertilizer supplies could lead to a food crisis in Africa, while a prolonged war could cause mass refugee flows. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot echoed the need for immediate de-escalation. Mr. Wandefuhl expressed a desire for a change of government in Iran, but warned of the dangers of military intervention, while Mr. Barrot called on Iran to make significant concessions.
