George Koumas to Appear in Court Today

Former Cyprus Football Association (CFA) president, George Koumas, will appear before the Nicosia District Court today, accused of potential conflicts of interest and money laundering. The indictment includes a total of 25 charges, covering the period 2015-2025. The charges relate to collaborations with companies and organizations involved in sports, such as the CFA, the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority, Cablenet, GO PLC, the Nicosia Race Club, and the Cyprus Basketball Federation (CBF). The charges are based on two laws: the law on combating the manipulation of sports events and the law on preventing and combating the legalization of proceeds from illegal activities. A criminal case has also been filed against two companies owned by George Koumas. The case concerns potential violations of laws relating to the fight against corruption and money laundering.
