Full Legal Arsenal Against Organized Crime, Says Minister of Justice

The Minister of Justice, Kostas Fytiris, stated that the Government now has a complete legal arsenal to combat organized crime, based on European legislation that allows the seizure and confiscation of assets from criminal activities, even without a conviction. He pointed out that the relevant directive is already being implemented in consultation with the Legal Service and is considered a powerful tool in the hands of the authorities. In addition, further legislation is being considered for stricter penalties, while the completion of the legal arsenal is expected before the dissolution of Parliament. The Minister acknowledged the increased insecurity experienced by society and the reinforcement of the feeling of insecurity due to publications on social networks.
