Foot-and-Mouth Disease Outbreak: Animal Culling Continues, 529,000 Vaccine Doses Arrive

The culling of goats and sheep infected with foot-and-mouth disease in Oroklini, Larnaca, is continuing at a rapid pace, with approximately 2,000 animals already culled. A total of 13,000 animals are expected to be culled. Simultaneously, the excavation of burial pits is progressing with the assistance of the Forestry Department and the National Guard. Today, 529,000 doses of vaccines, sent by the European Commission, are expected to arrive in Cyprus and will be distributed according to the operational plan of the Veterinary Services. 33,900 doses of vaccine for cattle have already been delivered, and private veterinarians are completing the vaccination within the 10-kilometer zone.
