Five Arrested in Larnaca Organized Crime Investigation – Mobile Phones and Cars Under Scrutiny

Five Cypriot men, aged 22, 29 (two individuals), 31, and 42, have been remanded in custody for eight days by the Larnaca District Court as part of an investigation into organized crime. Their arrest followed a police operation in Larnaca and is linked to offenses such as participation in a criminal organization, conspiracy, extortion, demanding property under threats, and money laundering. The investigation began with the examination of mobile phones belonging to a 22-year-old National Guard Contract Soldier, who is already on trial for attempted murder. Videos found on the phones depict incidents from 2023-2025, showing the soldier displaying large sums of money and suspicious items, possibly drugs. The 42-year-old is considered the head of the criminal organization, which operates in Larnaca in the areas of drug trafficking and providing protection to nightclubs. Financial checks revealed discrepancies between declared income and the assets of the suspects.
