Fire Department on Alert Due to Strong Winds - 17 Calls for Assistance

The fire department is on high alert due to strong winds sweeping across various regions of Cyprus. They have responded to 17 calls for assistance, primarily related to fallen trees and damage to awnings and roofs. Specifically, 12 calls were recorded in Nicosia and 4 in Limassol, with mobilization also occurring in other provinces. The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for rain, storms, hail, and strengthened wind fields. The winds are particularly strong and are causing problems in the daily lives of citizens. Snow has begun to fall in Troodos, and further deterioration of weather conditions is expected. The fire department advises citizens to be particularly careful and avoid unnecessary travel. The fire department spokesperson, Andreas Kettis, stated that the service is fully prepared to deal with any emergency caused by the adverse weather conditions.
