Farmers to Stage Tractor Protest: Demanding Solutions to Ongoing Issues

Farmers in Cyprus will stage a dynamic protest with tractors outside the headquarters of the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organisation (KOAP) in Nicosia on Monday, February 16th, at 11:30 AM. The Pan-Cypriot Cereal Producers Organisation and all agricultural organisations are protesting the serious problems they face, such as delays in the disbursement of subsidies and unjustified cuts in amounts. Farmers state that despite assurances of payments within December, many have not yet been paid, while those who have been paid have noticed significant reductions in the amounts. Furthermore, they criticize the obstacles that KOAP is placing in the payment of subsidies, despite the state's efforts to address the problems due to the Turkish occupation and the fragmentation of land. The organisers call on all farmers to participate in the protest, demanding immediate and substantial solutions to their problems. They invoke the need to ensure the sustainability of the agricultural sector and to support farmers in addressing the challenges they face. The purpose of the protest is to raise awareness among the Government and KOAP about the serious problems faced by farmers, highlighting the need for immediate action and substantial support.
