European Public Prosecutor's Office Investigates Pheidi for Misappropriation of Funds – Allegations of a Limassol Villa Used as a Residence

The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) has launched an investigation into Cypriot MEP Pheidi Panayiotou following allegations of misappropriation of EU funds. The allegations concern the rental of a villa in Limassol, which was declared as an “office”, with a monthly cost estimated between €5,000 and €6,000. According to the allegations, the MEP used the villa as a holiday home and for hosting parties. The Anti-Corruption Authority examined the complaints and forwarded them to the EPPO, along with its own observations. The EPPO has not commented on the investigation. This case highlights the need for strict control of the management of European funds by MEPs. The investigation is ongoing and is expected to shed light on the proper use of European funds by Pheidi Panayiotou.
