Europe in Action Through Cohesion Policy and "THALEIA2021-2027"

The European Union's Cohesion Policy remains a significant mechanism for supporting member states and citizens, implementing projects that improve daily life. In Cyprus, this policy has yielded tangible results over the past two decades, with transformations in the urban environment, strengthened social infrastructure, job creation and the promotion of green and digital transition. The "THALEIA2021-2027" program has entered its implementation phase, with completed projects such as the new facilities of the University of Cyprus’ School of Engineering, the "Salina" Municipal Park in Larnaca, the Creative Occupation Center in Larnaca and the renovation of the Old GSP in Nicosia. Significant emphasis is placed on the green transition, with projects such as the photovoltaic park in Aradippou, smart energy management systems at the University of Cyprus and energy upgrades of buildings. At the same time, social cohesion is promoted through subsidies for childcare, support for people with disabilities and the creation of Family Intervention Centers for Autism. The year 2026 is expected to be strategically important, with the continuation of existing projects and preparation for the new programming period 2028-2034. Cyprus will assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, with important negotiations on the new European Budget and the Cohesion Policy Funds.
