EU Will Continue to Defend Its Interests, Says Costa

European Council President Antonio Costa stated that the European Union will continue to defend its interests and itself, following an emergency summit on transatlantic relations. European leaders agreed to continue cooperating with the United States, but setting limits to threats and intimidation. Costa emphasized the importance of friendship and respect in relations between partners and allies, as well as the common need for security in the Arctic. The EU welcomed the announcement that there would be no new US tariffs, while European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen proposed doubling financial support to Greenland.
