EU Announces Scholarship Program for Turkish Cypriot Community

The European Commission has announced the launch of the EU scholarship program for the Turkish Cypriot community for the academic year 2026/27, with a budget of 2.5 million euros per year. The program, funded under the EU's aid program, aims to provide educational, training, and professional development opportunities for members of the Turkish Cypriot community in various academic and professional fields within the EU. Since its inception, the program has allocated a total of 43 million euros, highlighting the EU's long-term commitment to education and skills development in the region. The scholarships cover various stages of educational and professional careers, enabling beneficiaries to acquire academic qualifications and professional skills. Currently, approximately 120 Turkish Cypriot students are studying in 19 EU member states, with fields of study including innovation, special education, artificial intelligence, robotics, sustainable development, environmental sciences, human rights, and EU languages. The program seeks to enhance employability and address skills shortages in the labor market. Furthermore, the 'Alumni Connect' initiative promotes continued engagement and networking among program alumni, with over 2,450 beneficiaries participating since 2007. Applications for the 2026/27 academic year will be accepted until March 24, 2026, via the website www.euburs.eu. The program is implemented by the Goethe Institute since 2022.
